Design Process

Before

Before'Pink, girly and boring', was how this room was described by its 8 year old owner. She is a big Star Wars fan and requested a fight scene between Anakin and Obi-Wan with fighter ships in the background.

Sketch

SketchI went away and looked at various scenes from the movie and decided on Anakin and Obi-Wan, lightsabers clashing with the planet of Mustafar as the background. After my initial sketch was approved, I drew this pencil sketch over the 3 walls, outlining the characters and the background.

Background

BackgroundI then set to work and began painting in all the main background area colours, mainly red and black in this case. Working on the background is often a good place to start, as it gives the scene life and places the characters in position. Once all the background was filled in I would begin work on the main characters.

Basic Characters

Basic CharactersAs with the background, initially I painted in the basic character colours and using this as a base I can then add more and more detail, gradually building up to the finished product.

Star Wars

Star Wars - End ProductThe finished wall mural. The last details to add were the lightsabers and the fighter ships, which add a nice finishing touch.
